Denise Burge
Denise Burge is a professor at the University of Cinniciatti school of arts. She taught one of my painting professors. These are three of her quilts. She took up fabrics as her mode of creation after she painted so many large paintings, so quickly that she devoloped carpal tunnel. Her quilts resemble what she could do with a brush, the stiches loose like drawing. She's also made some music videos as performance pieces with her imaginary rock band, The Dozens. I just found these amazing stills from probably my favorite film, In the Mood for Love, directed by Wong Kar-wai. I could write pages about this man's incredible artistic vision and talent but these images stand on their own.
